I incorporated yoga in my life years ago, before acupuncture. I love yoga, it is a great exercise on many levels. It keeps our bodies flexible and at the same time it is strengthening. It is a discipline that can help on spiritual and psychological levels by the meditation and breathing practice that is involved with yoga. There are many styles of yoga and BKS Iyengar was my first introduction and has remained my favorite.
I have to be honest, I don’t know much about BKS Iyengar, but he lived to 95 and continued yoga into his 90’s. He was doing something right! The yoga community and I am sure many others are grieving the loss of this yoga guru. I am sure he lived by his words, “live happily and die majestically”.
